Marionettes. Late one night, Payaso the Clown convinces some of the other Marionettes to leave the theater and their master, André. Josephine's parents don’t want to go, but her love, Pierre, is with the rebels. As Payaso marches away with his followers, Pierre sees Josephine crying in her parents' arms. He decides to give up his chance for a new life and stay with Josephine. Without Pierre, the rebellion collapses and the Marionettes stay together.
