Marionettes. When the Marionettes awake, Payaso, the Clown, convinces some of them to leave the theater. Pierre joins Payaso’s group, but Pierre’s love, Josephine can’t desert her parents. As the rebels march away, Pierre realizes he can’t leave Josephine. Without Pierre, the rebellion falls apart and the Marionettes all reconcile before going back to sleep.
