William Konrad Hartmann, born in San Angelo, Texas, is a composer, songwriter, and studio musician. He has lived in Fort Worth since the age of two and is a graduate of Texas Christian University. Konrad was a winner of The American Prize for composition, and twice-finalist in the European Recording Orchestra's Call for Scores.
Konrad studied piano under Q’zella Oliver Jeffus (Fort Worth), and organ with Dr. Emmet G. Smith (TCU). He worked as a Lutheran church organist from ages 12 to 25, toured as an entertainer for 13 years, and has since concentrated on studio recording and composition.
Konrad has composed for television and radio, and written in several genres including pop, rock, country, Christian, Christmas, commercial, and theatrical. He has been a musician, arranger, producer, and engineer on hundreds of records.
Konrad’s current focus is composing music for symphony orchestras. His style is modern Neo-Romantic, with emphasis on strong melodies and musical narrative. His works can be performed as absolute music but are accompanied by program notes as well as photographs and original art that can be projected during performance to enhance the audience experience.
